Start a Handmade Business with the right mindset

by | Jun 7, 2022 | Business and Personal Mindset

Did you know that your mindset is largely the one responsible for your success or your failure in business?

Equip yourself with a positive, resilient and strong vision and mindset and you will be well on your way to success. Let’s dig into this!

So you want to turn your hobby into a business and generate a decent income with it? Well, you are lucky because it has never been easier BUT also harder than today. Let me expand…

Easier? yes!

We are all super connected and we can run an online business from just a smart phone if we want. We can take photos of our products, edit them, upload them to a marketplace and promote them on social media, all from that small device that fits in our pocket.

Harder? oh yes!

This is a very noisy world out there. Because of the ease of starting, you jump into a pool already saturated with thousands of voices and talents, and it can be very difficult to stand out and find your people.

If you are not strategic and intentional with every action you take, you will most probably become overwhelmed before you have the chance to start.

There is no “Get rich quick!” involved

First thing first, be ready to work hard and long hours to get you off the ground.

Understand also that there will be many times when you will want to throw in the towel, so stay connected as much as possible with not only the reason why you want to start this business but also your long term goal! What motivates you?

Be ready to spend more time working on your business, rather than in your business.

Stay curious about the world around you and upcoming business trends. Learn as much as you can, whenever you can and don’t forget to implement, or the learning will be useless.

Keep a flexible mind, always.

Try, fail, take a short break if you need to and jump back in but try a different angel this time. Failing in business is never about you not being good enough, you only fail when you give up. Be ready to try new things and to regularly take stock of what you do great and what needs to be improved.

Have a plan for growth

How do you see your business going from its starting point? Give yourself some goals to go after, winging it is rarely super productive, however allow yourself to explore creativity and go where your intuition call, as a creative this is in your bones, stay connected with this!

Don’t compare!

That’s much easier said than done. Most creatives doubt themselves and have a tendency to focus on who seems to be doing way better than them. Comparison kills creativity, so work on that if you are have tendencies to compare. Know that you are exactly where you are meant to be right now, focus on your own journey and most of all enjoy it!

Start your Craft Business with the right mindset and see your chances of success expand.
