Make it happen today!
Welcome to The Handmakers Academy!
I am so excited to share this journey with you and I would like to tell you a bit more about what you can expect from this website.
Right now we are at the infancy stage and I have a million dreams for it to evolve into this very carefully written and curated content.
It will not only help you learn the skills you need to build this amazing business you have been dreaming of, but also keep you focused and organized so that you waste as little time as possible researching, downloading and buying a million resources that leave you more overwhelmed than before it all started.
I think it is fair to say that we are bombarded by information and tutorials and it has become harder and harder every year that passes to be able to sort through it all and extract what really matters.
This is what this website is aiming NOT to be.
I am going to work with you to clear your thoughts and your vision, to help you draft plans that work for you, to sort through the existing content that AMAZING experts have meticulously written and packaged.
There will be worksheets, recommendations of podcasts, books and tutorials and most of all there will be people who want you to be YOU and be amazing at it.
Let me just tell you a bit more about who I am and the why behind all of this.
I am Peggy, French, Mothers of boys (expert at living life on the tip of my toes), married to a Brit and living in Chicagoland since 2014. I am also a Hand Embroidery Artist, and I teach and create embroidery patterns. This is a craft that I have been practicing since the moment I have been able to hold one of these giant plastic needles and my motor skills were half decent.
To cut a long story short, this is what happened.
I started my professional career in Marketing and Event Management but jumped off the corporate hamster wheel to look after my two boys.
I wasn’t long before I realized is that I NEEDED to work. I needed it to survive and to be a decent parent and human being. I needed another layer of ME.
So I did what a lot of mums did at the time and started a blog. Before I knew it, it became a successful blog and I started to have readers, a community of bloggers, awards and really cool stuff to try and review.
This led me to teach how to blog to business owners, which in turn led me to become a Branding and Online Marketing Consultant. I learnt NLP, training and teaching technics, I became qualified as a Coach and then, we moved across the other side of the World! Everything came to halt, and I took the clean break I so desperately needed at the time.
Creativity became my new obsession and Pinterest turned into my daily dose of excitement. We had moved to the country that had invented Michaels, Joann and Hobby Lobby and I became obsessed!
Eventually I got back to Embroidery and made it my new Business. We are now a couple of years later and I have loved it very much but I miss the teaching and coaching aspects of things. I have also realized through getting to know fellow makers that we are all in the same boat: passionate about our craft, talented and ambitious but we also have access to too much resources and information, lots of hats to wear, lots we need to do to become successful and not enough time.
The Handmakers Academy’s goal is to help change this, to help you stay on track and focussed and learn to work smarter not harder!
